The one step America skips.
Where I come from, nobody touches the paint until the dirt is off it. I moved here and could not find anyone selling that to a normal truck owner. So I built it.
Low sun. Driver's door. Spider webs.
I was filling up my truck at a gas station off the interstate. The sun was low and it caught the door at the wrong angle.
Fine circular scratches. Everywhere the light hit. I walked round the truck. Hood. Fenders. The tailgate was the worst.
That truck was two years old. I had washed it by hand every other Saturday since I bought it. Carefully. Two buckets, a good sponge, the shade of the garage.
I stood there with the pump running and thought: I did that.
Swirl marks do not come from washing. They come from washing over dirt.
Road film and grit sit on the paint. Anything that touches it, a tunnel brush or your own careful sponge, drags that grit across the clear coat. The brush does it fast. You do it slowly. The scratches are the same.
The soap does not matter. The wax does not matter. If the grit is still on the paint when something touches it, you are sanding your own truck.
Nobody in the car wash business says that out loud.
That was the day I stopped thinking about soap and started thinking about order. What touches the paint, and when.
In Britain, this is just how you wash a car.
I am British. Back home, anyone who cares about their paint does one thing before they touch it. Every wash. They spray on a pre-wash, let it work, and rinse the grit off first. Then the foam. Then, and only then, the mitt.
It is not a detailing trick. It is the default. Every car care aisle sells it.
In two years in America I did not see one person do it. I could not find anyone selling it to a normal truck owner either. Plenty of foam cannons for the pressure-washer crowd. Plenty of wax. Nobody selling the step that actually protects the paint.
That was the gap. Not a better soap. A missing step.

I did not want to import a British product and put a flag on it. American roads are different. Tar strips, road salt, highway film, red clay. So I found a formulation chemist in St Louis and we built the two liquids from scratch for the conditions here.
Pre-Wash loosens the film so the rinse takes it off. Snow Foam lifts what is left and gives the mitt something slippery to ride on. They are made to work as a pair, at one dilution, in two hand-pump cannons. No pressure washer.
The whole routine is three stages and thirty minutes, start to dry. It fits in the gap before dinner. That was the brief I gave myself, and it is the one I still hold it to.

The liquids are formulated and filled in St Louis, Missouri. The cannons and the bottles are made overseas to our specification. Orders ship from Indianapolis, Indiana.
